The French painter Claude Monet was born on 14 November 1840. His work was so revolutionary and created so much impact that until today it is difficult not to place him as one of the greatest painters of all times.Monet was one of the founders of impressionism, the art movement of the 19th century that changed how painters reproduced and reacted to light. One of the main intentions of the impressionist artists was to show the world a new way of contemplating things.Monet always knew he wanted to be a painter. He began his studies when he was just 11 years old, but found art school and the traditional way art was taught at the time very disappointing.
